A stock DJI Mini 5 Pro is a C0 drone in the EU: DJI declares 249.9 g and holds an EU type-examination certificate for it. Two DJI accessories take it out of C0, and DJI says so on its own pages: the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus (117 g, against 71.2 g for the standard pack) and the 360° propeller guard. The ND filters weigh about 1.1 g each and carry no warning. If you want the 52-minute battery, buy the Fly More Combo Plus, which ships as a C1 drone, because DJI no longer changes the class label after purchase.

The 2025 argument about units weighing 252 or 253 g ended when EASA confirmed the C0 declaration. The accessory question stayed open, and the EN 4709-001 standard that CEN published in April 2026 gets quoted in forums as if it gave owners 7 extra grams. It doesn't. Prices and status below are from DJI's German, Italian and UK stores on 30 October 2026.

## In short

- Stock Mini 5 Pro: 249.9 g design weight, ±4 g between batches, C0 in the EU.
- Battery Plus: DJI writes that the drone "can no longer be operated as a C0 UAS within the EU".
- Propeller guard: DJI's spec note says the aircraft weighs more than 250 g with it fitted. We couldn't find it on DJI's German or UK store.
- The 3% tolerance in EN 4709-001 applies to manufacturers at certification. It isn't a margin for your add-ons, and the standard isn't cited in the EU Official Journal yet.
- Want long flights and A1? The Fly More Combo Plus (C1) costs 1189€ in Germany and £1,039 in the UK, 60 more than the C0 combo.

## Which Mini 5 Pro accessories break C0?

Weights and prices from DJI. The last column is what DJI itself writes about C0, plus our note where DJI says nothing.

Table: Mini 5 Pro accessories and C0, 30 October 2026

| Accessory | Weight | Price DE / UK | C0 in the EU? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intelligent Flight Battery (standard) | about 71.2 g | 79€ / £69 | Yes. It's the configuration DJI certified |
| Intelligent Flight Battery Plus | about 117 g | 99€ / £85 | No. DJI: "exceeds the C0 MTOM threshold" |
| Quick-Release 360° Propeller Guard | 16 g (single), DJI spec as listed by dealers | Not on DJI's DE or UK store | No. DJI: "The aircraft will weigh more than 250 g" |
| ND filter set (ND8/32/128) | about 1.12 g per filter | 49€ / £45 | DJI gives no warning on the product page |
| Spare propellers | about 2.8 g each | 9€ / £9 | Same part as stock, no change |
| Third-party strobes, landing gear, skins, trackers | Seller's figure | Varies | Not part of DJI's certified setup. Weigh the drone with it on |

The ND filters are the add-on you'll use most for video, and they're fine. You need them to hold a 180° shutter in daylight, and our [ND filter guide](https://www.4filmmakers.co/news/best-variable-nd-filters-82mm/) explains how many stops that takes. Clip-on strobes and landing-gear extensions are where owners get caught: a few grams on a drone that already sits at the limit.

## How much weight margin does a C0 Mini 5 Pro have?

On paper, none. DJI's spec sheet says 249.9 g, then adds that real units vary by about 4 g because of batch materials. A heavy unit can leave the factory at 253.9 g.

EASA addressed this in September 2025. Its drone project manager, Natale Di Rubbo, told Italian site Quadricottero News that the Mini 5 Pro has a declaration of conformity for class C0 and that the draft standard prEN 4709-001 allows ±3%. As DroneXL reported it, the heaviest certified configuration, approved accessories included, must stay within 3% of the declared mass. On 249.9 g that's about 257 g. Di Rubbo also said the tolerance applies to manufacturers during certification.

Table: Mini 5 Pro weights against the C0 limit

| Configuration | Weight | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Design weight, standard battery | 249.9 g | DJI |
| Heaviest unit within DJI's tolerance | 253.9 g | DJI (±4 g) |
| 3% test ceiling on the declared mass | about 257 g | Our maths from EASA's comment |
| Design weight with the Battery Plus | about 296 g | Our maths from DJI's battery weights |

The Battery Plus adds about 46 g. No reading of any tolerance covers that, and DJI sells the Plus kit with a C1 label instead.

## What did EN 4709-001:2026 change for owners?

Less than the forum threads suggest. CEN's committee for drones (CEN/TC 471) published EN 4709-001:2026 in April. It turns the requirements of EU Regulation 2019/945 into tests with pass and fail criteria for classes C0 to C4, mass limits included. CEN says the standard will give manufacturers a presumption of conformity once the EU cites it in the Official Journal. We found no such citation on 30 October 2026, and Spilma's compliance guide, updated on 7 October, lists EN 4709-002:2023 as the only part cited under 2019/945.

Table: EN 4709-001 in practice

| Question | Answer on 30 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Who uses it? | Manufacturers and notified bodies, to test drones before they get a class label |
| Does it change your drone's label? | No. Your Mini 5 Pro keeps the C0 or C1 label it shipped with |
| Does it let you fly a C0 drone at 257 g? | No. The 3% is a certification test margin, and the Regulation still defines C0 as under 250 g including payload |
| Is it cited in the Official Journal? | We found no citation. Until then it gives no presumption of conformity |

## What changes between flying C0 and C1?

Both labels let you fly in the A1 subcategory of the open category. The differences matter if you travel with the drone or film in towns.

Table: C0 and C1 in the EU open category

| | C0 | C1 |
|---|---|---|
| Subcategory | A1 | A1 |
| Pilot training | Read the user manual | Online A1/A3 training and test |
| Flying over uninvolved people | Allowed, never over crowds | You must avoid it |
| Remote ID | Not required | Required |
| Operator registration (drone with a camera) | Required | Required |
| Maximum height | 120 m | 120 m |

A C0 Mini 5 Pro with the Battery Plus or the propeller guard fits neither column. DJI says it can no longer fly as C0, and it doesn't carry a C1 label. EASA says a class-marked drone has to keep its original compliance for its whole life, but its FAQ doesn't say which subcategory applies to one that's over its mass limit. Ask your national authority (ENAC in Italy, LBA in Germany, DGAC in France). Our cautious reading: hold the A1/A3 certificate and fly far from people, as you would in A3.

## Fly More Combo or Combo Plus: which one to buy in Europe?

On the Mini 5 Pro spec page DJI writes that it "will no longer support the updates to a product's class label after purchase". The label you pick at checkout is the one you keep.

Table: Mini 5 Pro prices on DJI's stores, 30 October 2026

| Bundle | Class | Germany | Italy | UK |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini 5 Pro (base kit) | C0 | 799€ | 799€ | £689 |
| Fly More Combo (DJI RC-N3) | C0 | 999€ | 999€ | £869 |
| Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2) | C0 | 1129€ | 1129€ | £979 |
| Fly More Combo Plus (DJI RC 2) | C1 | 1189€ | 1199€ | £1,039 |

Table: Which bundle fits how you shoot

| If you | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Travel and film in towns, near people | Fly More Combo (C0) | No exam, and you can fly over uninvolved people |
| Fly long mountain or coastline shots far from people | Fly More Combo Plus (C1) | Up to 52 minutes per battery against 36, legal with the Plus |
| Already own a C0 drone and want more air time | Extra standard batteries (79€) | The drone stays C0. A Battery Plus would take it out |
| Fly near kids or indoors and want guards | Check with your authority first | DJI says the guard pushes the drone over 250 g |

Table: C0 bundle against C1 bundle

| | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Fly More Combo (C0) | Fewest rules in the EU, cheapest way in | 36-minute battery, Battery Plus and guards off limits |
| Fly More Combo Plus (C1) | 52-minute battery, legal with the Plus | A1/A3 test, Remote ID, keep away from uninvolved people |

For most people who film with it, we'd take the C0 combo and two extra standard batteries. The C1 kit makes sense if most of your flying happens in the mountains and already hold the A1/A3 certificate. DJI's spec page also lists a lower maximum takeoff altitude with the Plus: 4500 m against 6000 m.

## What about the UK and the US?

The UK left EASA's system. Since 1 January 2026 the CAA asks for a Flyer ID from 100 g and gives new drones UK class marks (UK0 to UK6), so the EU C0 label doesn't settle anything there: check the CAA's own pages. In the US, DJI launched the Mini 5 Pro outside the American market, and the FAA asks recreational pilots to register drones over 250 g, which a Mini 5 Pro with the Battery Plus is. Our [Osmo Action 7 article](https://www.4filmmakers.co/news/osmo-action-7-rumors/) covers why DJI's US situation keeps getting harder. If you want a smaller DJI drone, see what has leaked about the [Neo 3](https://www.4filmmakers.co/news/dji-neo-3-leaks/).

## Questions people ask

**Q: Is the Mini 5 Pro still C0 with the Battery Plus?**
No. DJI writes that a C0-certified Mini 5 Pro fitted with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus exceeds the C0 MTOM threshold and can no longer be operated as a C0 UAS in the EU. With the 117 g pack the drone weighs about 296 g.

**Q: Can I change my Mini 5 Pro from C0 to C1?**
Not through DJI. Its EU spec page says it will no longer update a product's class label after purchase. If you want C1, buy the Fly More Combo Plus, which ships with a C1-certified drone.

**Q: Do ND filters take the Mini 5 Pro out of C0?**
DJI doesn't say so. Each filter in DJI's ND8/32/128 set weighs about 1.12 g, and the product page has no weight warning, unlike the Battery Plus and propeller guard pages.

**Q: Does the 3% tolerance mean I can fly a C0 drone at 257 g?**
No. EASA's drone project manager said the tolerance applies to manufacturers during certification. The Regulation still defines C0 as under 250 g including payload.
